Just as in other sectors of the economy and administration, the issue of continuing education is becoming increasingly significant in the world of archives. There is greater emphasis on digital archives, the handling of digitised documents and internet offerings as well as records management. At the same time there are many people who require a basic understanding and appreciation of archives for their own respective jobs in other fields of employment.
The Archives School Marburg strives to satisfy all these demands with the courses it provides, whether these are derived from the school’s long established programme on digital long-term archiving or whether they focus on the OAIS [open archival information system] or digital image processing. The course tutors themselves are highly experienced archivists who also have the necessary teaching skills to plan and provide training and give lecture courses for those pursuing continuing education.
