MidosaXML and MIDOSAonline are tools for the description of archives with the possibility to create printed and web-published inventories.
History
Midosa (micro-computer-aided information and documentation system for archives) evolved during the 80s at the directorate of the States Archives of Baden-Württemberg. In the mid-90s the system was reviewed and developed further to give Midosa95.
During the course of a DFG project on the Internet presentation of inventories, the Archives School Marburg extended the software to include a component for the compilation of online inventories. By the year 2000, in cooperation with the directorate of the States Archives of Baden-Württemberg, the software Midosa for Windows had been created using the MIDOSAonline tool. Together with the Federal Archives and the software engineering company startext, work has concentrated since 2003 on converting the software to the XML format, giving MidosaXML.
