Every year the Archives School organizes congresses that focus on current issues for professionals from all over Germany and elsewhere. These congresses are also attended by our course participants as part of their educational experience.
Now and again small workshops are held, in which interested colleagues are also welcome to take part.
In cooperation with other institutions the Archives School Marburg carries out research projects that are financed with third-party funds, such as the current German Research Foundation (DFG) projects on the digitization of archival sources and development of an archives portal, the German contribution to Archives Portal Europe.
For the digitization project the Archives School serves as coordinator; in the German archives portal project it organizes a colloquium and presents further options of continuing education. The former coordination office for retro-conversion was also financed by the German Research Foundation.
The DFG project “Coordination office for the retro-conversion of archival catalogues” was in fact a service-oriented advisory bureau for public archives that provided them assistance in filing their applications for DFG funds for the digitization of archival catalogues (retro-conversion). In August 2013 after more than 80 projects and 6 years the coordination office was closed, having benefitted from the maximum funding period possible.
Training also includes smaller projects, mainly from the area of public relations, or description projects.
